Twitter in Congress?

First Myspace, than Facebook, now Twitter. This time Twitter has become popular amongst political figures. Now mind, political figures are human like us (some) and are allowed personal lives. Yet when congressman are constantly updating their Twitter when arriving overseas on work related visits and posting their arrivals and locations of themselves and their constituents, may be a problem. Especially when arriving in Baghdad! Some government control please?

Education Funding

Why is it important? Well, right now we are...correction, the middle class and poor are facing economic issues that are preventing us from spending for extras and necessities, another expense that is becoming more difficult is higher education. We have less money and higher education continues to become more expensive. Republicans want to cut or at least put less emphasis on education spending. Why is this the wrong direction to go to especially during this indefinite crisis? If fewer people start going and graduating from colleges and universities, than our next couple of generations will have fewer scientists, educators, leaders in both political and financial sectors, etc. This is what the G.I. Bill prevented, during the depression, it was also very difficult to attain higher education. What would happen? Well one thing that can possible happen is that all these higher education attained positions become scarce, therefore possibly increasing the price for these services and when you already have a majority in low paying jobs (due to less higher education) this makes it more difficult to have access to these services. Get the picture?

Me Gusta Yo!

So this morning, I tune into fox news (don't ask me why) and see a discussion between the 3 idiots and Glenn Beck. I'm tired of hearing Marxism and the Obama administration in the same sentence. Since when did compassion and the will to do good for a majority of America who has been exploited by the rich minority become equal to socialism and Marxism? The government intervention that the Obama Administration wants to do with the stimulus is temporary and only because the extreme condition the country is in. Republicans aways want less government intervention because it allows the people they sleep with it (corporations and the rich) to do what they want. Since the early 1900's free enterprise has set a standard on the blueprint between industry and society. To this day we continue seeing a huge gap between the wealthy and middle class/poor. If anyone remembers, that's the main reason the depression came about.

One more thing, Beck mentioned that the New Deal was a disaster and did not work and the war got us out of the depression. Correct, the war did get out of the slump, but the New Deal was an investment that payed off and led this country to what it is now. One example, the G.I. Bill. If the G.I. Bill did not exist our country would've resembled much of the countries we see overseas. We would not have the arts, politics, technology we see now. Please look up statistics if you like, not pulling this out of my ass. The majority of Americans could not afford college than and would not have gone if it wasn't for the G.I. Bill, so do the math and look at what kind of country we've would have been if a majority of America worked in factories and did not go on to universities gaining intellect and enlightenment and becoming our future leaders in politics, industry, arts, music, scientists and social services that we see now. I read this book couple of months ago, "Soldiers to Citizens" by Mettler, take a look at it for the actual statistics.

Teriyaki Boyz sophomore effort

Finally the Teriyaki Boyz will release in the US, after listening to their first album about a month ago, I was looking forward to their second one, "Serious Japanese". After the Zock-On single released a few months ago, I was confident the album was heading in the right direction. Three of the fourteen tracks include a song featuring Kanye west that was released over a year ago while the other two include a soundtrack release and a remix of it. Production credits would get anyone excited. Adrock, Jermaine Dupri, Kanye West, Mark Ronson and of course the Neptunes were the main contributors. They all came through for a listenable album. Favorite tracks are "Zock-On" "Teriya-King" "Serious Japanese" "It's More" "I Still love H.E.R."

Lily Allens sophomore effort "It's Not Me, It's You"

Well after listening to the album twice, I cannot deny that I expected more of her first album on the second. No Mark Ronson production on this one. Heavy bass lines, terrific brass and catchy hooks with lyrics made me a fan of her first one. Her crazy personality, awesome style and good looks made me a fan for life. After hearing about her beginning work on the second album I began to guess what the album would sound like. At the time I think she was dating Ed Simons of the Chemical Brother so I predicted a more electro pop album and I was right. Many will say that a consistent tracks on a album is what makes it a success while others believe that an album more eclectic brings out the many different ways an artist can express itself. On the sophomore effort, Allen choose consistency. The whole album has similar instrumental tracks and expresses a more laid back Allen. Less goofy and more preachy, but again her song lyrics say it all and are well written. The album is good, but I was hoping for more jump and songs that make me want to put my middle finger up and stick my tongue out at people. Favorite tracks include "Never Gonna Happen" "Not Fair" "Fear". The album releases 02/09 in the UK, 02/10 in the US.

Bow Ties!

I guess people who laughed at me when I was wearing bow ties months ago owe me an apology or they can continue laughing at me and Dolce & Gabbana. I mean what does D&G know about fashion right? Their Fall 09 lineup is filled with bow ties. Suck it people.

The jokes begin

Newly appointed GOP leader Michael Steele has just said that the government does not create jobs and has never in a million years. Anyone with any knowledge of America History or even half a brain knows that the government creates jobs! Currently 15% of jobs are government jobs! Sometimes I think I could run for office. Id wear corduroy suits.

The New Republican Revolution

Remember when the respectable Newt Gingrich brought back the Republican Party in the mid 90's? Well now we can count on Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber to do the same. I'm kidding, but if they do, I hope we can all agree that moves like this will only knock down any respect or dignity the GOP has left. Now mind, I don't value the opinions or even underestimate the capabilities of those not involved in politics or hold higher degrees. But Joe the Plumber has repeatedly shown much of his ignorance and lack of any reasonable or rational opinions on a consistence basis. Sarah Palin should continue holding her post in Alaska and should maybe starting reading newspapers and inform herself on issues that qualify you to respectively hold higher office. Why is it that conservative voters refuse to have intelligent people representing them. Both Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumbers popularity has been disturbing only because their popularity is being associated with the government. The government people! If looking up to and being excited about a competent politician is like having respect and admiration for a hard working and loving parent than looking up to Joe the Plumber and Sarah Palin as being part of running this country is the same as loving an unemployed abusive parent. It does not make sense.

Rachel Maddow

I wanted to post this about two weeks ago but felt that maybe I might be a bit off. Last year Air America's Rachel Maddow was given a spot alongside Keith Olberman and has been very successful. At first her show was set in very serious tone and had very good guests and info analysis. But lately, Ive seen her slowly turning into a MSNBC version of Comedy Central's Daily Show. Now mind, she still has interesting anaylsis and very good guests but she has become more comical in presenting topics and views. Isn't that what Keith has been doing? Earlier on, Keith's and Rachels show was already very similar and now even more. Rachel is super intelligent and I enjoy her show but is MSNBC slowly becoming a FOX news? I mean i know MSNBC has competent staff unlike Fox, no doubt their. Maybe I should just continue to listen to NPR and try to get the BBC channel on my TV box and not continue spending two hours of Keith and Rachel and just cut it to just one of them. No hard feelings.

Grinds my gears

Lately, I'm starting too notice much of my peers are surprisingly very conservative. But also much uninformed on many topics regarding the ever lasting battle of the left and right. My conclusion is this, the majority of people are greedy and selfish and put themselves first before the greater good. Ex. As much I did not mind the $300 check from the Bush administration, I didn't see it as smart spending. Now, when we need to do something about the economy, Republicans think that tax breaks is the answer? So 10 percent of unemployed Americans will have taxes taken out of what? Their un-existing pay checks? I'm not saying that infrastructure spending is the 100% percent solution to the economic slump but since their is not an ultimate answer at the moment. Why not spend money on upgrading our electric grid system (remember Mass winter storm and currently Kentucky's)
Investing in switching to smart and free energy (solar and wind). Coincidentally Hannity mentions on his website, ways to get rich on energy stock. Remember the bridge collapse in Minnesota? It wasn't an unavoidable accident, it was due to lack of appropriate spending and follow up that many cities and states over look. We (government and society) are constantly and continually spending on things that are not important and we will face the consequences and have already. Their is opposition to spending money on our country's well being but its ok to hand it to the financial sector because Bernanke and Taulson said so. See the difference is that the financial sector can throw back money through campaigns and donations. Bridges, roads, technology and all infrastructure cant, at least not physically. Investing in something tangible is sometimes the only safe bet, and as we have seen recently, investing in a sector that is sometimes just based on speculating can lead to problems. Just imagine if we funded social security through Wall street just like proposed by Bush. Not only peoples 401k's would have been depleted by as well as the SS funds for Americans. The lack of awareness and rational thought regarding this topic has been frustrating and upsetting to me.

Bill O'Reilly and Young Jeezy

Recently Young Jeezy and Jay-z were criticized for their current single "My President is Black" and in a way have all the reason to do so. Freedom of speech, but Bill O'Reilly particularly called out Young Jeezy and to guest on his show. Young Jeezy opened up his house to Katrina victims, has spent his own money in feeding and providing for victims and the poor. I'm curious to see what Bill's yearly donations list looks like. Granted Jeezy is part of a genre of music that can be explicit, derogatory and at times the wrong example on how one should live their life but the same could be said about actors who portray less than reputable characters or directors and producers who make violent and offensive movies. This past election we have seen the ugly in many, Blacks, whites and other minorities, we've seen how much opposition their is about electing a black president, even if he is more qualified than most. For those who thought the race barrier was gone, its been dormant and it came out again. At least young jeezy has an excuse for rapping and doing what he does. Whats your excuse Bill? Maybe like you wrote in your book, your excuse is the life of privilege you led. Your show is based on rants that sometimes are not thought through enough. I've said enough.

What really grinds my gears!

President Obama cut back on infrastructure spending and added more tax cuts in bill to please republicans, tax cuts don't help the economy!
Senator McCain on Fox news said that the 6 billion set for Broadband funding is a waste of taxpayers money, yet on April 23 2008 on his campaign trail, he said that spreading Internet access for everyone across the country is the governments responsibility! So whats the difference now? Not one republican voted for stimulus package. Damn the GOP!

Not cool

Bolivians today backed new constitution in voting today. In wide spectrum, it helps in improving the conditions of the indigenous majority. But, in the long run in a country where the president is backed by a very uneducated majority, can lead to laws that maybe unfair or not democratic in being passed by an unaware and easily swayed majority.

Hell yeah!

D&G must haves for Fall/winter 09

Marc Jacobs has been wearing skirts lately and looks good in them.

Well, a little while ago, there was talks of Kanye West working with YSL on a shoe and it's out. Funny how I remember people laughing at me when I wore red sneakers.

That's life!

Blagojevich's wife was fired from her $100,000 a year job and with her husband facing impeachment, what will they do? I guess playing the tough and powerful and abusing it doesn't pay.

Really?

Fox commentator know it all Chris Wallace recently said this on President Obama not reciting the oath correctly after Justice John Roberts incorrectly read it to him. "I'm not sure that Barack Obama really is the president of the United States" Well Christopher Wallace, I would imagine that a man with your experience in interviewing 3 past presidents and graduating from Harvard University, one would think that you would know that at exactly 12 on the day of the inauguration, the president elect automatically takes position regardless of taking oath.

Rush the crazy dragon recently said that he hopes Obama fails, really Rush? you represent the extreme right and you want our president to fail and our country to continue to get worse? Your argue that you disagree with government controlling the private sector. Well Rush the crazy dragon, not keeping tabs on the private sector is one of the reasons our country is in the mess its in.

You can't fool me!

Who else thinks the show "10 items or Less" is "The Office" in a grocery store.

Mayor Corey Booker and deliciousness.

So this morning on NPR, I listened to an interview with Mayor Booker and once again after a couple of jokes on him using the word deliciousness, Mayor Corey Booker used it again. In all seriousness, Mayor Booker belongs to a group of young black politicians born post key civil right moments in history that include Gov of Mass Deval Patrick, Philly Mayor Michael Nutter and our own president Barack Obama.

Just listened to an interview on NPR, Republican Revolution Man Newt Gingrich has given President Obama two thumbs up on his appointments.

Polaroid

Last year, Polaroid announced they would no longer make their famous instant picture products.  But their back with this.  Hope it's as fun as the originals.

Listen to what this man says and read his work.

At 28, he's the Washington DC editor for The Nation.  Good weekly magazine.

Steve Jobs feeling ill.

Steve Jobs taking leave of absence till June.  Wonder if it will effect stock price and product updates.

This is why I want to be thin!

And yet my wardrobe is filled with clothes like this, but when I put it on, I look like I'm wearing my younger brothers clothes, much much younger brother.
