Lately, I'm starting too notice much of my peers are surprisingly very conservative. But also much uninformed on many topics regarding the ever lasting battle of the left and right. My conclusion is this, the majority of people are greedy and selfish and put themselves first before the greater good. Ex. As much I did not mind the $300 check from the Bush administration, I didn't see it as smart spending. Now, when we need to do something about the economy, Republicans think that tax breaks is the answer? So 10 percent of unemployed Americans will have taxes taken out of what? Their un-existing pay checks? I'm not saying that infrastructure spending is the 100% percent solution to the economic slump but since their is not an ultimate answer at the moment. Why not spend money on upgrading our electric grid system (remember Mass winter storm and currently Kentucky's)
Investing in switching to smart and free energy (solar and wind). Coincidentally Hannity mentions on his website, ways to get rich on energy stock. Remember the bridge collapse in Minnesota? It wasn't an unavoidable accident, it was due to lack of appropriate spending and follow up that many cities and states over look. We (government and society) are constantly and continually spending on things that are not important and we will face the consequences and have already. Their is opposition to spending money on our country's well being but its ok to hand it to the financial sector because Bernanke and Taulson said so. See the difference is that the financial sector can throw back money through campaigns and donations. Bridges, roads, technology and all infrastructure cant, at least not physically. Investing in something tangible is sometimes the only safe bet, and as we have seen recently, investing in a sector that is sometimes just based on speculating can lead to problems. Just imagine if we funded social security through Wall street just like proposed by Bush. Not only peoples 401k's would have been depleted by as well as the SS funds for Americans. The lack of awareness and rational thought regarding this topic has been frustrating and upsetting to me.
