So this morning, I tune into fox news (don't ask me why) and see a discussion between the 3 idiots and Glenn Beck. I'm tired of hearing Marxism and the Obama administration in the same sentence. Since when did compassion and the will to do good for a majority of America who has been exploited by the rich minority become equal to socialism and Marxism? The government intervention that the Obama Administration wants to do with the stimulus is temporary and only because the extreme condition the country is in. Republicans aways want less government intervention because it allows the people they sleep with it (corporations and the rich) to do what they want. Since the early 1900's free enterprise has set a standard on the blueprint between industry and society. To this day we continue seeing a huge gap between the wealthy and middle class/poor. If anyone remembers, that's the main reason the depression came about.
One more thing, Beck mentioned that the New Deal was a disaster and did not work and the war got us out of the depression. Correct, the war did get out of the slump, but the New Deal was an investment that payed off and led this country to what it is now. One example, the G.I. Bill. If the G.I. Bill did not exist our country would've resembled much of the countries we see overseas. We would not have the arts, politics, technology we see now. Please look up statistics if you like, not pulling this out of my ass. The majority of Americans could not afford college than and would not have gone if it wasn't for the G.I. Bill, so do the math and look at what kind of country we've would have been if a majority of America worked in factories and did not go on to universities gaining intellect and enlightenment and becoming our future leaders in politics, industry, arts, music, scientists and social services that we see now. I read this book couple of months ago, "Soldiers to Citizens" by Mettler, take a look at it for the actual statistics.
